TEHRAN Iran's First Vice-President Hassan Habibi on Thursday inspected the exhibit displaying the achievements of the Islamic Revolution. While visiting the specialized exhibit for exports, Habibi said great works have been done to develop the country's export capacity. He said the statistics indicated that Iran has reached self-sufficiency in setting up gas networks for domestic consumption, supplying electricity and drinking water, producing food-stuffs.
Iran does not need foreign goods thanks to the progress made in recent years. Iran now produces a variety of goods which can not be compared with the (scarce) production in Iran before the Islamic Revolution, but, the population has almost doubled since the 1979 revolution causing an increased demand in every ground, Habibi said. He called for economic consumption and avoidance of extravagant way of life.
He said the government and the parliament have adopted good decisions to complete the development projects in the field of supplying electricity and tapped water next year. (IRNA)
